THERE IS A NEW STAR SHINING IN THE SKY TONIGHT
There is an old belief that the stars shining in the
night sky are the spirits of those who have died. They
have shed their earthly bodies and exchanged them for
bodies made of light; thousands upon thousands of our
dear departed friends all promoted to glory in the night
sky. There is another saying that the brightest flame
burns the shortest.
Chad, you were the brightest star in our universe. While
we burn on, our flame dimmed by grief and despair at
your passing, the stars are watching us. They are too
far away for us to touch, just as you have gone
somewhere We cannot follow until our own star-time
comes. They cannot be held close for comfort, just as we
can no longer hold you close, though we held you close
to comfort you in your times of need. We were together
for such a short time, but the stars will burn forever.
One day we will grow tired of these earthbound bodies,
our own star-time will come and our spirit will soar
into the sky to burn with all those lovely family and
friends who have gone before us. On the inky cloth of
space we will be reunited in constellations of joy.
Until then, our flames burn low and dim and cold without
you. Through our tears we look upwards to see if you are
watching us and what do we see?

You held him in your
parent arms
For days or weeks or
years.
Now you hold him in your
hearts
And cry the darkest
tears.
The cord attached to
children,
Eternally fine and
strong.
You’ll never lose the
missing;
It holds you all life

you -
Your souls tattooed with
gold.
Their love, their words,
caresses,

The Cord
We are
connected, my precious son and I

invisible cord not seen by the eye

the cord that connects us ‘til birth

A Father’s Prayer
A prayer
is all I’m asking, to say goodbye to my little son,
Give me
strength and guide me, for those unknown years to come –
A special
little angel, a gift of heaven on earth,
A burst of
sunshine in my life, from the onset of his birth.
This
joyous gift that I was sent, owns me heart and soul,
From tiny
fingers to his toes, I learnt how to fulfil a Daddy’s
role.
With these
hardened hands of mine, my senses, my feelings, my heart
You helped
me do just what I should, right from the very start.
The future
promised… To fly a kite, fish or swim, to kick a ball
just right –
To teach
him all a boy should know, by campfires, late at night
When in
‘teens” or “in betweens” there was so much more to learn
–
You helped
me to be there for him, and always show concern.
Help me in
these coming years with a passion just as strong,
To keep
his memory burning bright, and guide me when I’m wrong.
In all the
years ahead of us, as a family we must grow
That his
life was not in vain – help me keep my parent’s love
aglow.

Such a beautiful boy, wise beyond years
Such a loving heart, it moves you to tears.
Kind beyond words, a saving grace
Look to the heavens, you will see his face.
He made his mark in sport, home and school
His kindness given to everyone – there were no rules.
To his friends he was loyal, to his family he was brave
Everyone wishes some of that we could save.
Remember the good times, remember the fun
Remember his spirit shining like the sun.
